Burg Nanstein

A couple quick photos of my latest castle exploration, Burg Nanstein. It's about 15 minutes from my home. One of the coolest I've been to and supposedly haunted. *Cue creepy music*  It's got a nice little restaurant off of the side with a great view overlooking the Landstuhl/Ramstein area and is very reasonably priced.
Park your chariots here please...
This is the view you can enjoy entering the castle or dining out on the restaurant balcony.
My house is waaaaaaaay past those windmills in the back!

All the gorgeous Roman arches..
I think I forgot to drink Alice's shrinking potion... *tisk tisk*
My husband exploring..
Helllllo! It's me.. Please let me in oh royal friends! I come bearing gifts!

Follow me... Princess Steena.. I will take you to the castle's treasure! lol

Could you imaging stepping out of your castle to this view in the morning?
Heading for the courtyard..
I love how the castle flows right into the natural rock...

From above on the bridge.. Sorry it's so bright.
These dungeons were creepy..*eerie water dripping*
The courtyard was probably my favorite spot.. Peaceful and full of beauty
Statue.. pretty much standard in any great courtyard!
These detailed stone scrolls could be seen all over the castle.
I think this well in the center of the castle courtyard was my favorite part.. (not just because it was comfy on my bum either lol)

Out and about at the mall in Neunkirchen..

Last Thursday I went on a short trip to Neunkirchen.. (a town about an hour away) I hopped the train in Neubrucke and spent the day at the mall in the center of town. It was nice to get out of Baumholder and had plenty to choose from.
Waiting on my train..
The Neubrucke station..
Hello train! To Neunkirchen please!

I walked the streets to the center of the city and stopped off in a couple of the side shops. There's a zoo nearby as well, but I didn't have time to check it out. Maybe next trip!
The mall has a T.K. Maxx (like T.J. Maxx lol), gift shops, shoe stores, clothing stores and numerous restaurants.
I had lunch at an Italian place.. The food was incredible! Nico (the old manager/possibly owner) was super welcoming and we all practiced playing with our languages.. a little English.. a little Italian, and some German. I order the 'rigatoni spinaci'. The gorgonzola cream sauce was amazing and the spinach was delightfully fresh! Mmmmmm I guess I'll have to hold off my cravings until my next trip.. Oh the torture!!! lol
If you're looking for a nice outing and some tasty dining hop the train and enjoy it for yourself :)

Walking around Wiesbaden...

Here are a few pictures from walking around downtown Wiesbaden on New Years day.

Can you imagine this walkway in spring?!! It's gonna be gorgeous!
I really can't wait to spend the day downtown with my girlfriends shopping the storefronts. It was empty yesterday morning, with the exception of people strolling or out on the ice skating rink. Perfect time to browse with your hunny or a good friend and take some pictures.

One of Wiesbaden's churches

The ferris wheel must have been nice for watching fireworks on New Years Eve :) It was HUGE! (and right in the center of town) I have no clue how they got it there! lol

One of the many Christmas trees from the markets.

I'm so ready for spring so we can enjoy all of the many festivals and listen to music in the bier gardens.

Lots of art and sculptures... I adore it!

I hope you all had a wonderful New Years and many blessing in the year to come! I'm off to Frankfurt tomorrow! Another busy day :) Fabric has been ordered so lots of projects are stewing.. I'm so excited to share them with you! As for now.. I'm back to my project making..
Ciao

Heidelberg (Pt 2)

We left the beautiful bridgee under the Heidelberger Schloss and made our way down the charming side streets toward town.

The market square in Heidelberg is fantastic! It's dead center and has plenty of space for food vendors, festivals and photo ops.
The fountain in the market square.

Exploring the shops...
*sigh* Love it!

Looking through the alley way at the church.
Yes, just like Eurotrip! LOL.. I really enjoy the street performers here.. they think of the craziest stuff!

OMG! *drool* American Apparel?!! Now all I need is an Urban Outfitters and I'm set!

Sunset in Heidelberg is sOoOOoOOoo romantic!
The warm glow of the sun hitting the church tower...

LOL.. Forever 18.. I guess since the legal age is 18 here instead of 21 they needed to adjust the store name! hehehe
Walking by the train station to grab some Italian ice cream..

Ah, my spaghetti ice! The prefect way to end a fabulous day. It's Vanilla gelato pushed through a ricer to look like strings of spaghetti, covered in fresh berry topping and topped with shaved white chocolate.. Mmmm talk about heavenly!
Next time we go I'll be sure to post pictures from inside the Heidelberger Schloss! Hope you enjoyed..
